February 2012 Daily DeviationsThis journal encompasses all Architecture Photography and Urban & Rural Photography Daily Deviations I have picked in February 2012.
A few notes: I have not separated Architecture Photography and Urban & Rural photography, and all thumbs are big thumbs because I feel it displays the deviations much better that way.
One thing you will notice is the decrease in the number of Daily Deviations I have awarded. In light of recent changes made to the Daily Deviations guidelines, a volunteer may only pick a maximum number of one (1) Daily Deviation a day, regardless of the number of galleries they represent.

1. Gallery Clean-up Project
The Gallery Clean-up Project will focus on literally cleaning up the category tree in several ways. This first part of this project, is all behind the scenes. Over the years there have been categories that have been "removed", merged, or changed and there are back-end changes that need to be done to fully remove them from the tree. This part will not affect you, and if everything goes properly, you won't even notice it

March Vector DDs!What is Vector Art?
In digital art there are two layer formats: raster and vector. Raster formats are based in pixels and vector is based in paths and points.
When you resize a raster image, you are expanding the pixels. Your program has to try to estimate what the colours would be for the additional pixels created. Due to this, the image loses it's clarity and creates a pixel effect.
When you resize a vector image, you are increasing the distance between the points. Due to this, the image doesn't lose it's clarity and doesn't pixellate.
The key element of vector is that it's infinitely scalable without any quality loss and it's why we love it!
What is a Daily Deviation?
A Daily Deviation is a site wide feature. These are selected from our galleries by Community Volunteers and from suggestions from ANYONE who is a member of deviantART!
